I Could Show You…

WWL

I could show you mountains rising through the broken morning mist,
Milky lands of dawn refurbishing the old.
I could hide you in the warmth of my trench coat if you insist,
And you could watch the new world turn beneath the folds.
I could make the noisy crowd form rhythms stretched across the years.
I could bring the stars to earth and make them dance.
You could use my Arran sweater as a blotter for your tears,
Changing cold grey streets for boulevards in France.
I would show you lands unparalleled, with painted firmaments.
And I would make you yearn in eagerness for more.
I’d catch every single heartbeat, every gasp of wonderment,
Then close my coat and let you fall asleep once more.
