In the Duvet

duvet

I’m trapped in bed.
I should rise and face the morning. But I’ll just lie here instead.
There was a rock-fall full of duvet overnight and now I’m crushed,
Half-submerged in warm, seductive dreams. These matters can’t be rushed.
Last night I moved that dreadful clock so, come the morning, I’d
Be forced to leave my bed to turn it off.
At least I tried.
In practice things don’t work so well.
One well-aimed pillow broke the bell.
