The Time Shunt

Here comes the time shunt! I’ve receded to the corners of my brain.
I’m fast asleep when wide-awake. It’s very tricky to explain.
The textbooks talk of fractured neurons earthing wildly in my head,
But here I am way deep in history, sat pulling at the thread.
They call it déjà vu and yet, I’m sat here studying what’s real
From the dream beyond time’s preface, waiting for the great reveal.
I’ve put my mouth on automatic so you’ll never realise
That I’m a hundred thousand years removed behind this thin disguise.
