Grey Space

And, in the grey space, what became of all our hopes and aspirations,
Of the dreams we used as weapons against previous generations?
Well, we placed them on the back burner, just like our parents did,
As we bought our bricks and mortar and our two point three five kids.
All the marches and the protests, all the angry students hordes,
They came to nothing – zilch, as one by one we found ourselves absorbed
Into the grey space; outside passion, where idealism died
And we became the generation we had once so much despised.
