Strewth an’ buggery, it’s hot!
I thought the fire was on. It’s not.
The weather’s bust! This can’t be right.
There’s not a chuffin’ cloud in sight.
Is that the sun up in the sky?
I thought I’d started with a stye.
If it continues in this tone
I’ll have t’ leave me scarf at home!

Pure genious rhyme! I was always imagining living in UK, just so I don’t have to bother anymore with head and sun and enjoy the rain and gray clouds.
July 18th, 2013 at 11:07 am
You wouldn’t enjoy it much at the moment, Oloriel. It’s waaaaay hot out there right now. People are frying eggs on the pavement…although I can’t help thinking it’s a bit unhygienic.
July 18th, 2013 at 11:09 am
You would find me on the street chanting for rain, it usualy works! 😀
July 18th, 2013 at 12:00 pm
Now there’s an idea…
July 18th, 2013 at 11:47 am
At 24 degrees, I’d still have my scarf on! Brrrrrr.
Love English weather humour. Thanks!
July 18th, 2013 at 12:01 pm
Actually it’s about 32 degrees out there in the shade at the moment, Esme. What that is in old currency I don’t know…about 97? It’s hot, that’s all I know.
July 18th, 2013 at 10:41 pm
Farenheit is a mystery to me, I have conversion charts through all my cook books.
32 is nearly warm enough to go swimming. Nearly. That’s quite pleasant bike riding weather. 😀
I recall reading that England had a heatwave and it was 27! 32 must be melting items England had assumed were solids!
July 19th, 2013 at 12:13 am
It’s cooled off a bit tonight. I might have to put the fire on.
July 18th, 2013 at 11:47 am
We are having a bit of this right now in my neck of the woods. Yucky! I would recommend ketchup with the eggs:)
July 18th, 2013 at 12:01 pm
Fried egg and chip butty with ketchup sounds good.
July 18th, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Eeee it is ‘ot all right. Might even have to risk the sewage and dip me feet in the sea at this rate Brian.
July 18th, 2013 at 6:12 pm
32 degrees…blimey…that’s painful. You should take your scarf along with you anyways as you could always use it like handkerchief to mop up any excess sweat.
July 18th, 2013 at 6:51 pm
I don’t think there’s anything left in me to sweat out now.
July 18th, 2013 at 8:15 pm
97 … that’s pretty normal for us here in the summer … but, I know that it’s a bit hot for your neck of the woods …
July 18th, 2013 at 8:22 pm
We’re not used to it. It’s supposed to rain all summer in Blighty. I feel cheated by the Met Office.
July 19th, 2013 at 12:26 am
Yes – it’s finally cooked us! It always does that – arrives when we’ve given up on a summer and got all our warm clothes back in the wardrobe!! 😀
July 19th, 2013 at 12:43 am
Even the seagulls round our way are lying around with their tongues hanging out.
July 19th, 2013 at 12:49 am
Poor things! 😆
July 19th, 2013 at 10:03 am
This sunshine thing’s gone on for over a fortnight now. The novelty’s worn off. Now it’s just unpleasant and sticky.
July 19th, 2013 at 2:52 pm
Yes – a ‘sticky summer’ is not what we have in mind when looking forward to it in spring!!! 😀
July 19th, 2013 at 12:59 am
I love the thought of all that pale pommy flesh being fried to a crisp.
And weird weather, 23 degrees yesterday, hottest July day ever then a banging good thunderstorm and freezing.
July 19th, 2013 at 9:32 am
It fell from twenty-three degrees to below zero?
July 19th, 2013 at 4:50 am
cool poem!
I think the world is titling for here in Texas
it rained again and is 73’… LOVE IT!

Seventy-three feet?
July 19th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
Where is that ark?
July 19th, 2013 at 3:11 pm
In a repository in the Pentagon where Indiana Jones left it, I think…
July 19th, 2013 at 1:30 pm
degrees, here ‘ means degree also
July 19th, 2013 at 3:12 pm
Ah…that makes more sense.
July 19th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
But you have to have your scarf!
July 19th, 2013 at 3:10 pm
I know, it’s a dilemma. However, I’ve reached a compromise. I’ll wear my scarf, but not tie it in a knot.
