Out of Sync

out of sync

We always danced, but out of step,
Two unread poems tied in knots,
Both scrawled across a single page,
Our stanzas badly interlocked,
And somehow never syncopated,
Overlapping; timings wrong.
You were the waltz. I was the samba.
You the poem. I the song.
And what a tangled mess we wove,
In clashing, scribbled blots of ink.
Illegible. Not even prose;
Just lyrics badly out of sync.
