They tumble down like dominoes,
Faster as each year shunts by.
Time was I never thought, but now
There’s barely time to say goodbye.
And I’m there, somewhere, in the ranks,
My own fall now long overdue,
Wedged in between the others who’d
Convinced ourselves we were immune.

Wise words!
July 28th, 2013 at 7:42 pm
If not a bit bloody miserable. 🙂
July 28th, 2013 at 8:21 pm
The truth can be a bit awful!
July 28th, 2013 at 7:35 pm
That is why we must enjoy every day whilst we can!! You are so wise!! *blows bubble–runs away*
July 28th, 2013 at 7:43 pm
Bugger that. Being miserable is much more fun.
July 28th, 2013 at 7:46 pm
Bugger that!! 🙂 Yes, I love using that word….It is rather fun.

Ah! A wonderful allegory of life!! 🙂 🙂

Or death…as the case might be.

So true. A domino – I feel like like one of those sometimes. Kind of in the middle of the lot…….
July 28th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
I think I’m the double blank.

Just because it look like a domino and falls like a domino, doesn’t mean it quacks like a duck…all trees are harvested when the time comes by the grim forester.

And you can just bet that whilst some go onto become mighty thrones or tables in the celestial city, I’ll be turned into a bog seat.

Well said! Yes, we all convince ourselves we are immune, and time goes so fast. It’s a weird experience this life! 🙂

Short, unpleasant and, for the most part, utterly pointless.
July 29th, 2013 at 9:29 am
You’re a cheery bugger. I feel like a ray of sunshine now. Nothing like someone else’s misery to cheer you up. A bog seat, indeed.x

People complain when I write cheerful poetry. Having said that, I remember Pam Ayres, so I can understand why.
July 29th, 2013 at 9:40 am
Oh shit. Don’t visit me then.x
July 29th, 2013 at 10:06 am
I was reading your stuff the other night. You have a proper sense of humour, not the Pam Ayres homogenised bog-wash sort of stuff.

Great analogy – I am one of those in the distance nearly on its side – fortunately I still have the mindset of a 16 year old and still think myself immune.

I’m firmly of the opinion that real life is the dream and that death is just us waking up from it. I convince myself of this fact frequently by drinking copious amounts of whiskey and shutting my eyes.

I pray that when my number comes up, i am ready to go. Thanks for this post. My teacher, friend and spiritual guide of 20+ years, had a sudden heart attack and passed away. So, the feeling impermanence is very strong.

I’ve lost so many friends and relatives in the last few years it’s frightening.
